July Birthstone - Ruby

Ruby belongs to the Corundum family of minerals and is perhaps best known as the July birthstone. Due to small elemental variations of the Ruby Corundum chemical composition the ruby is the most stable form of the Corundum mineral. Rubies are known for their deep silky red color and if a Corundum mineral color is too pale the classification is then downgraded to pink sapphire.
