May Birthstone - Emerald

Emerald belongs to the Beryl family of minerals and is perhaps best known for being the May birthstone. Emerald shares the chemical component Beryllium with the other members of the Beryl mineral family. Emerald Beryl gains its Green color from Chromium within the Emerald Beryl mineral.
