September Birthstone - Sapphire

Sapphire belongs to the Corundum family of minerals and is perhaps best known as the September birthstone. Due to small elemental impurities in the Corundum mineral, Sapphires range in color from black to colorless. Although Rubies are of the same mineral family they are upgraded from common Sapphire to its own clasification due to its rare deep red color.
